Elms Wins The First Before Rain Washes Out A Game Two Lead

After a marathon of a day yesterday because of rain, Gordon College came back to the dirt to face the Elms College Blazers in Auburndale, Florida at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex for their final twin bill of the week. The Fighting Scots fell 9-0 in game one before leading by two in the second game, before it was called in the fourth due to weather.

Game One
  • The Scots' Hunter Routhier worked himself out of a jam in the top of the first to keep it scoreless after one. However, Elms was able to plate one in the visitor half of the second as AJ Cook hit one right back up the middle to bring home Austin Roy to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Blazers' tacked on a run in the third and two in the fourth to make it a four-run game. Elms' CJ Kuentzel was dealing from the bump striking out nine and only allowing one hit in 7.0 innings of work. Elms added to their lead in the top of the sixth to eventually take the 9-0 win over the Scots. 
Game Two (No Contest)
  • After breaking up the no-no in game one, Shane Demers hit a double to open up the first and was brought home thanks to a double by his brother CJ Demers. Gordon added another in the third before the game was called in the bottom of the fourth due to rain and lightning.

Beyond The Box Score
  • Gordon caps off a their 13 game schedule in Florida tomorrow, March 11 as they take on Sage College in a nine inning game at Polk State University at 10 a.m.
