Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Panthers Race Past Scots

After returning to New England after making the trek to Virginia for their Spring Break trip, Gordon College Men's Lacrosse went up to Plymouth, New Hampshire to battle the Panthers of Plymouth State University (PSU) on Panther Field. The home team used a five goal second quarter to propel themselves past the Fighting Scots, 16-9.

Six different Scots scored in this afternoon's matchup: Kobi Bui, Liam Davey, Noah Thies, Marco Fernandez, Will Fleming, and Wilton Lestage. Current Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week, Colin Liscomb made 18 saves in the effort.

Plymouth's Crosby Fay had a game-high five goals while Mike Fleury added three along with an assist. Additionally, Leif Charbonneau scooped up eight ground balls for the Panthers.

How It Happened
  • Almost exactly two minutes into the first, Thies laced a shot past the PSU keeper to put the Scots on top, 1-0. Firing quickly again, Davey put one away to increase Gordon's lead to two. Not to be outdone, PSU came back with three straight tallies to flip the script, 3-2 with 5:17 remaining in the quarter. Looking to lock it up, Gordon's Lestage found the back of the net to tie it at 3-3 heading into the second frame.
  • With 14:23 on the board, the Scots took advantage of a man-up opportunity as Lestage found Bui whose seventh goal of the young season put the Scots on top once again, 4-3. However, PSU recorded the next five goals to double up the Scots, 8-4 at the half.
  • Both sides traded goals within the first five minutes of the third to keep the score at a four-score spread, but the Panthers were able to outscore the Scots, 3-1 to head into the final 15 minutes up by six (12-6).
  • In the last frame, PSU continued to extend their advantage, grabbing the 16-7 lead with 5:46 left in regulation. While the Fighting Scots were able to add another two goals in the remaining minutes, it wasn't enough as they eventually fell to the Panthers, 9-16.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Today, Marco Fernandez booked his third hat trick of the season.
  • The Fighting Scots return to their home turf on Wednesday, March 16 to host the Emerson College Lions at 7 p.m.
