How It Happened
- FSU rattled off a pair of quick shots in the opening two and a half minutes to lead the Fighting Scots, 2-0. However, not to be outdone, Gordon's Mini registered two straight tallies to lock it up at 2-2 with just under eight to go in the first quarter. The visitors fired back with three of their own before Mansfield tacked on one more goal before the end of the first to cut the deficit to 4-6 after one.
- The Scots flipped the script in the opening minutes of the next quarter, as the blue and white took their turn scoring two goals in the opening two and a half minutes. Throughout the remaining minutes of the second, both sides scored three times to even out the score at 9-9 going into the break.
- Continuing to hit two consecutive shots per team, the Falcons and Scots each hit the back of the net twice in the first six minutes to knot up the score yet again 11-all. With just over four minutes remaining in the third, Gordon began to pull away taking the biggest margin of the game, 15-12 heading into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
- With 6:59 on the clock, the Falcons scored the first goal of the fourth to come within two (13-15), however, the Fighting Scots went off in the remaining minutes to take the eventual 18-13 win.
