Gordon College Women's Lacrosse earned a victory in their second straight home game at the Brigham Athletic Complex this rainy afternoon where the Fighting Scots dominated the visiting Rhode Island Col. (RIC) Anchormen, 18-4.
The Fighting Scots were led by
Kaitlyn Mini who had six caused turnovers and five goals,
Alexis LaPia who registered six ground balls while netting five tallies, and
Hailey Beling who chipped in four goals.
For the Anchormen,
Olivia Carpenito collected four ground balls, four caused turnovers, and two goals, while
Hannah Marley caused five turnovers while grabbing three ground balls.
How It Happened
- Just 43 ticks into the opening quarter, RIC converted a free position shot to take the 1-0 lead. However, the Fighting Scots took control and scored three goals to take a 3-1 lead after one quarter.
- In the second frame, Mini and Abbie Zorrilla each booked their second tally of the game in the opening minutes before LaPia found the back of the net twice within a 20 second span to widen the gap to six goals (7-1). RIC was able to make it a five-goal game at the break (7-2).
- Despite RIC scoring first in the third quarter, the Scots scored six straight to extend their lead to 10 goals heading into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
- Gordon continued to roll in the fourth, outscoring the visitors 5-1 in the fourth to take the 18-4 win.

- The Fighting Scots return to action again at home on Wednesday, March 23 to host Anna Maria at 4 p.m.
- Alexis LaPia has now scored five goals in back to back games.
