Scots Make It Four In A Row With 14-9 Win Over Amcats

Gordon College Women's Lacrosse hit the turf again this evening to square up against the Anna Maria AMCATS. In the non-conference battle Fighting Scots continued their strong offense to ultimately take the 14-9 win to improve to 5-1 overall.

Hailey Beling paced the Scots with four goals while dishing out two assists, Kaitlyn Mini chipped in three goals, while Alexis Lapia booked three helpers and a pair of goals. Emma Darling grabbed four ground balls and caused two turnovers

For the AMCATS, Ashley Rufo had three goals and Raegan Hachey scored twice in the effort.

How It Happened
  • After almost five minutes of scoreless action, Anna Maria drew first blood to take their first and only lead of the game, 1-0. However, the Fighting Scots immediately tied it up after Beling found the back of the net less than a minute later. The Scots went on to score three more to end the first quarter with a slight edge, 4-1.
  • Beling got the Scots going once again after a feed from LaPia at the 11:52 mark. Gordon continued their goal streak as Mini, Abigail Mansfield, and Beling added three more to the Scots' tally to head into the second half, 8-1.
  • In the third, both squads traded goals before the AMCATS went on a three-goal run to shrink the deficit to five (10-5) with 2:53 left in the frame. With less than two minutes remaining, Mini laced one past the AMCATS' goalie to go into the final quarter up, 11-5.
  • The Scots came out firing in the last 15 as Rhoda capitalized on a free position shot just 32 seconds in to widen the gap to seven goals. The visitors were able to find the back of the netting four more times but it was not enough as the blue and white collected their fourth straight win, 14-9.
Beyond The Box Score

  • Emma Darling had a career-high four ground balls.
  • The Scots begin conference play on Friday, March 25 as they travel to Bristol, R.I. to face the Hawks of Roger Williams at 4 p.m.
