For their first match at the Brigham Athletic Complex of the 2022 season, Gordon College Men's Tennis welcomed the Vikings of Salem State for a non-conference matchup where the Fighting Scots narrowly edged their guests, 5-4.
The Vikings secured the first win of the day on doubles court two after
Andrew Muttiah and
Cory Cherico bested the Scots, 8-4. However not long after, the Fighting Scots locked in the last pair of doubles thanks to an 8-3 win by
Ezekiel Hall and
Mark Noschese and an eventual 8-6 victory by the powerhouse duo
Nathan Gonzalez and
Adrian Thomas.
In singles, Hall flew over his opponent (6-1, 6-3) followed by another Gonzalez win (6-3, 6-2) to give the Scots a slight edge. Lastly, Thomas locked in the win for the Scots after a lengthy three set match (6-1, 3-6, 6-3) to lift Gordon over the Vikings, 5-4.
The Fighting Scots return to the courts this Saturday, March 26 when they host the Wentworth Leopards for a conference battle at 11 a.m.
