Gordon College Men's Tennis welcomed the Wentworth Leopards to open up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at the Brigham Athletic Complex. Despite taking the early 2-1 lead after doubles, the Fighting Scots were narrowly defeated by the visitors, 5-4.
Ezekiel Hall and
Mark Noschese teamed up to secure an 8-6 victory in the No. 1 doubles spot, while
Nathan Gonzalez and
Adrian Thomas also were able to pick up a win on the third court, 8-4.
In singles, it was Hall and Noschese who each registered wins for the Fighting Scots as Hall defeated his No. 1 counterpart 6-0, 6-2 and Noschese collected a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 3 slot. Battling it out in No. 4 and No. 5 singles,
Alex Ryzi and Gonzalez each took their respective courts to a third set with their opponents but were ultimately bested by the visitors as Wentworth came away with the overall 5-4 win.
The Fighting Scots head to Bristol, R.I. on Tuesday, March 29 to square up against the Roger Williams Hawks at 4 p.m.
