Gordon College Baseball traveled to Fitchburg, Massachusetts this afternoon to once again take on the Falcons of Fitchburg State University (FSU) on Riccards Field where the Fighting Scots battled through nine innings but the home team came away with the 10-7 win.

How It Happened

• FSU came out hot early, scoring a pair of runs in the home half of the first, but Gordon was able to match their counterparts as Gabe Coyne-Martinez and Dalton Cody recorded an RBI single and RBI double, respectively, in the top of the second to knot it up at 2-2. The Falcons quickly answered back with a two-run shot to left center to regain a two-run edge in their next at bats. 
• Gordon limited FSU to just one hit for the following two innings, before the Falcons were able to connect for six hits to plate six runs and widen the gap to eight runs (10-2) in the sixth.
• After three straight singles and a walk to bring in the Scots' third run, Fitchburg made a pitching change with no outs and the bases loaded in the top of the seventh. The Scots were able to tack on four more runs to make it just a three-run ball game, but Gordon was unable to bring any more runs across as the Falcons held on for the 10-7 victory.

• The Scots travel into Salem tomorrow to square off against the Salem State Vikings at 3 p.m.
