Vikings Fend Off Scots In North Shore Battle

For the second straight day, Gordon College Baseball went on the road for their final non-conference matchup of the week to take on the Salem State Vikings where the home team used a six-run fourth inning to defeat the Fighting Scots, 10-3.

How It Happened
  • After a scoreless two and a half innings, Salem State got on the board after a sacrifice fly to left field to take the 1-0 lead.
  • The Vikings continued to add to their tally after stringing together five hits to score six runs in the home half of the fourth to widen the gap to seven before going up by 10 after the bottom of the sixth.
  • In the top of the seventh, David Melendez crossed the plate thanks to a wild pitch for the Scots' first run of the day. An inning later, Patrick Tevenan and Robert Dunkle came around to score after kicking off the inning with a single and double, respectively. However, the rally stopped there as Salem secured the seven-run victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Fighting Scots welcome the Salve Regina Seahawks to J. Tec White Field for their home-opener this coming Saturday, March 26 for a twin bill starting at 12 p.m.
