Gordon College Men's Lacrosse commenced their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play tonight as they traveled to Bristol, Rhode Island to battle the Hawks of Roger Williams University where the Fighting Scots were ultimately bested by their hosts, 14-4.
For the Scots, Kobi Bui found the back of the net two times while scooping up six ground balls, meanwhile, Marco Fernandez and Noah Thies each added one goal to Gordon's tally. On the defensive end, Colin Liscomb recorded a total of 16 saves for the Scots.
The Hawks were led by Noah Ravas and Jared Grier who each booked three goals followed by Ryan Vendetti and Ryan Phillips who contributed two towards the effort.
How It Happened
- Roger Williams came out strong, firing 18 total shots in the opening 15 to head into the second with a narrow 4-0 edge.
- The second quarter had an even match up of two goals a piece for the teams, as Fernandez and Thies found the back of the net once each for the Scots (2-6).
- Coming back from the half, the Hawks continued to stay hot as they quickly added three more tallies before Gordon's Bui broke up the scoring spree with his first goal of the night to bring the score to 3-9 before the Hawks tacked on another with nine seconds remaining to head into the fourth quarter, 10-3.
- In the final frame, Roger was able to add two more to their lead before Bui ripped another one past the Hawks' goalie with 7:52 left in regulation. However, the Hawks didn't let up, racking up another two goals before taking the eventual 14-4 win.
