Gordon College Men's Tennis returned to the courts this morning to square up against the Penn State Behrend Lions at the Evian Tennis Center in Hilton Head, South Carolina where they were able to come away with their first 2022 win, 6-3.
For doubles, the Lions one-upped the Fighting Scots, 2-1 thanks to a close 8-7 win on court one followed by another narrow victory on court three before Gordon's
Alex Ryzi and
John Marineau closed out the doubles matches with the Scots' first win on court two, 8-4.
Next, Fighting Scots dominated singles, taking five of the six matches, each in two sets. Starting off the Scots' win streak was Marineau who quickly defeated his opponent 2-0 (6-2, 6-3). Gordon went on to win four out of the following five matches as
Ezekiel Hall (6-2, 6-3),
Mark Noschese (6-1, 6-2), Ryzi (6-2, 6-0), and
Adrian Thomas (6-2, 6-0) each outshined their opponents, 2-0 to ultimately lock in their first win of the spring season, 6-3.
The Fighting Scots hit the courts in Hilton Head, South Carolina again tomorrow, Tuesday, March 8 to face the Buena Vista University Beavers for 5 p.m. start.
