Gordon College Women's Lacrosse ventured to Salem this evening for a non-conference duel against the Salem State Vikings where the Fighting Scots fell to their hosts, 10-16.

For the Scots, Abigail Mansfield led her squad for the third game in a row as the senior recorded four goals as well as one assist, meanwhile, Hailey Beling was right behind her with three goals while chipping in an assist. How It Happened
  • Mansfield made sure to win control after the first whistle before scoring the first goal of the game just 1:37 into the quarter. At the 9:47 mark Mansfield tacked on another goal to her tally after taking advantage of a free position shot to give the Scots an early 2-0 lead. However, the Vikings offense came alive in the last seven minutes to score three goals in a row, giving them the 3-2 edge heading into the second frame.
  • Salem kept their scoring streak going as they immediately added three goals to their lead within the first 3:20 of the second quarter. But Gordon's Beling halted the Vikings' momentum with her first goal of the game to cut the deficit to three (6-3). Exactly two minutes later, Mansfield dished one out to Rhoda who found the back of the net to make it a two-goal game. However, Salem continued to fire, retaking the four-point lead before the ending of the half, 9-5.
  • Coming back from the half, both teams traded goals before Mini and Mansfield fired past the Vikings' keeper back to back to bring the score to 8-10 with 5:25 remaining in the third. The Vikings were able to get two more goals in before entering the final frame, 12-8.
  • After almost five minutes of scoreless action, Mansfield recorded her fourth goal of the night to bring the Fighting Scots within three (9-12). However, it wasn't enough as the Vikings' offense continued to flourish, eventually trumping the Scots, 16-10.
