How It Happened Â
- The Fighting Scots wasted no time getting on the board as Marco Fernandez found the back of net one minute into the game and then shortly after, teammate Kobi Bui did the same to give the Scots an early 2-0 advantage. The Nor'easters were able to chip away at the Scots' lead when Kennedy scored to bring the Nor'easters within one goal. Nearly 7 minutes later, Bui registered another goal to give the Scots back their two-goal cushion before UNE's Hazard closed out the half with a goal for his team to make it 3-2 going into the second quarter. Â
- Fernandez notched his second helper of the game in the opening minutes of the second quarter when he found teammate Nicolas Flemmi for the shot to extend the Scots' lead to two. The Nor'easters came back firing by scoring two unanswered goals to tie the game at four a piece with eight minutes to play in the quarter. Seconds later, Bui notched a hat trick as he snuck a shot past the Nor'easters goalie, to give his team a one goal advantage. The Scots were able to tack on two more goals, to bring the score to 7-4, before the buzzer sounded to signal the end of the second quarter. Â
- The Scots continued to add on to their lead to start the third when Noah Thies found the back of the net to double the lead at 8-4 with under 13 minutes to go. Hazard tacked on another for his team before the Scots scored two more goals to bring the score to a commanding 10-5. The Nor'easters started their comeback with 2 minutes left in the quarter when they scored two goals to close out the quarter by cutting the Scots' lead to three. Â
- The Nor'easters were able to dominate the final stanza, scoring four unanswered goals with the winning goal coming in the last seconds of the game to take the 11-10 victory over the Scots. Â
