Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bui Seals It With Game-Winning Fourth Quarter Goal Over WIT

Gordon College Men's Lacrosse returned to action this evening as they traveled into Boston to square off against the Wentworth Institute (WIT) Leopards where on a back and forth night, the Fighting Scots had the last word in a thrilling 9-8 victory over the Leopards.Ā

For the Scots, Kobi Bui had a game-high four goals, Joel bean had two goals and as many assists, while Marco Fernandez, Wilton Lestage, and Nicolas Flemmi each had one goal in tonight's win. In net, Colin Liscomb had 16 saves.

Wentworth's Jared Hiller had a team-high three goals and Erik Madden added two in the effort.Ā

How It Happened
  • Bean put the Fighting Scots on top early as the juniorĀ took a feed from keeperĀ Liscomb to rip it past the Leopard's keeper giving Gordon the 1-0 early lead. Not to be outdone,Ā WIT'sĀ Eric LeBlanc put his team on the boardĀ with a goal midway through the first quarter (1-1).
  • Five minutes into the second frame with the scoreĀ knotted up at 1-1,Ā FlemmiĀ took a helper from Bean to double up the home team, 2-1. Exactly three minutes later, WIT once again tied up the score after a goal fromĀ Hiller.
  • Then, with just over a minute remaining until halftime, Bui rocketed one into the back netting off a pass fromĀ Will Fleming to give Gordon the slight 3-2 edge going into the break.
  • Coming out of halftime, WIT put up a pair of quick goals to take their first lead of the night (4-3) with 10:34 to go in the third. Two and a half minutes later,Ā LestageĀ broke up the Leopard scoring threat with a goal of his own to once again even the score out (4-4). However, WIT came back firing, tacking on three more goals before the Scots put one awayĀ to end the third frame up, 7-5 over the blue and white.
  • Bean opened up the fourth with a Gordon goal to make itĀ a one goal game with just over 11 minutes remaining in regulation. WIT came right back to give the home team a two-score cushionĀ just two minutes later. From there, the Scots took over, thanks to a game-tying goal from Fernandez at the 7:30 mark and then the eventual game-winner off the stick of Bui who put the Scots out in front with 5:05 to go in the frame. The Leopards were unable to rattle off a shot in the final minutes as Gordon maintained total control to earn the 9-8 road win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Tonight's game marks the third game this season that Kobi Bui has booked four or more goals.
  • Joel Bean recorded a season-high two goals and two assists.
  • This marks the Scots' first CCC win since 2018 when they beat Wentworth in a similar fashion with a last minute goal to win 9-8 as well.
  • Gordon returns home on Saturday, April 23 to celebrate Senior Day with a 4 p.m. game against the Western New England Golden Bears at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
