Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Conference Leading WNE Spoils Scots’ Senior Day

Gordon College Men's Lacrosse celebrated their lone senior, Christian Celentano in this afternoon's conference battle against the undefeated Western New England (WNE) Golden Bears where the Fighting Scots were bested by their opponents, 18-6.

Joel Bean and Kobi Bui led the Scots with two goals in this evening's matchup meanwhile, Marco Fernandez and Wilton Lestage both chipped in one tally for the Scots while Will Fleming dished out an assist.

For the visitors, Mike Bannon booked three goals while Matt Greer and Noah Rust added two towards the Golden Bears' victory. The remainder of the goals were spread out amongst eleven other Golden Bears who each recorded one goal.

How It Happened
  • After 2:33 of back and forth action, WNE recorded the first goal of the game before adding two more to take a 3-0 advantage with 7:51 remaining in the first. Twenty two seconds later, Bean swiftly broke away to score the Scots' first goal of the evening (1-3). But the Golden Bears were able to score another trio of goals before Lestage cut their rally short to bring the score to 6-2. With 58 ticks left in the first, WNE netted one more goal to head into the second, 7-2.
  • WNE kept their sticks hot in the opening minutes of the next quarter, scoring four in a row before freshman Bui silenced the Golden Bears with a goal ripped to the back of the net to bring the score to 3-11 before WNE added another before halftime (12-3).
  • However, WNE bounced back to go on a four-goal run before the final frame when the Fighting Scots opened up the fourth with back to back goals from Bean and Fernandez (5-16). The Golden Bears continued their offensive push in the last eight minutes of action before Bui added another goal to his stat sheet with 1:06 remaining on the clock, however, it wasn't enough as WNE took the eventual 18-6 win.
