Scots Stifled By Second Placed Golden Bears

Gordon College Women's Lacrosse returned to the Brigham Athletic Complex this afternoon to host the Golden Bears of Western New England (WNE) where the Fighting Scots ultimately fell to their guests, 21-3.

For the Scots, Kaitlyn Mini led her squad with two goals, while Becca Rhoda chipped in one goal in the effort.

WNE was paced by Liz Mazza and Mia Celentano who each scored three times, meanwhile, four Golden Bears were able to record two goals each: Reilly MillerSamantha Vitka, Ally Hill, and Anabella Arias

How It Happened
  • The Golden Bears got off to a hot start, grabbing a quick 3-0 edge just over two minutes into the game before Mini halted WNE's scoring frenzy when she skillfully placed one behind the visitor's keeper after a free position shot. However, WNE was able to garner a 10-goal rally to bring the score to 13-1 before Mini added the Scots' second tally of the game with 1:07 left in the half to head into the third, 2-13.
  • Coming back from the half, the Fighting Scots held the Golden Bears scoreless until the 11:14 mark when Hill tacked another one on to her stat sheet (14-2). WNE went on to outscore the Scots 3-0 in the remainder of the third to enter the final frame, 17-2.
  • Just 42 seconds into the fourth quarter, Rhoda laced by past WNE's keeper to give the Scots their third goal of the evening, 17-3. However, the Golden Bears went on to score four in a row to take teh eventual 21-3 win.
