Gordon College Volleyball traveled up to Biddeford, Maine tonight for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup against the U. of New England (UNE) Nor'easters where the home team seemed to have it in the bag, going ahead 2-0 but the Fighting Scots buckled down and earned the 3-2 victory.

How It Happened
  • In the first set, Gordon went ahead early and continued to hold the lead until UNE locked it up at 14-14 before going ahead, 15-14. The Nor'easters remained in the driver's seat and despite the Scots tying it up at 24-all, the home team prevailed, 26-24.
  • UNE kept the momentum going in the second, leading by as many as eight before the Scots closed the gap, but the Nor'easters were able to stay in control to go up 2-0 after the 25-20 victory.
  • The Scots flipped the script in the third, taking an eight-point lead of their own (15-7) thanks to a Shaduk kill en route to a 10-point victory (25-15).
  • Looking to even the score out at 2-2, Gordon and UNE went point for point early in the fourth, but the blue and white began to pull away and cruised to a 25-13 win to force a fifth and final set.
  • Gordon opened up the fifth with a 2-0 lead before UNE came back to make it 2-2. Then, thanks to seven timely kills capped off by an ace from Alexa Quinones, the Fighting Scots secured the come from behind 3-2 victory over the Nor'easters.
