How It Happened
- A Zachary Bennett three-pointer and a Caleb Scot layup gave the Fighting Scots an early 5-0 edge. The Colonels soon began to chip away and eventually knotted it up at 10-10 before taking their first lead of the night (12-10) with 12:58 to go in the half.
- Gordon answered back quickly thanks to a Sattazahn jumper and a shot from downtown to retake the narrow 15-12 advantage. Both sides went shot for shot down the stretch where there were four lead changes with the Colonels leading by as many as four points, but Smith was able to make it close at halftime as the sophomore hit all three attempts from the charity stripe (33-32) to bring his team within one (33-32).
- Curry opened up the second half with a pair of three's to widen the gap to five points in the early minutes. The Colonels would continue to live outside the arc, going on top by nine points (50-41) thanks to another three with 13:14 on the clock.
- The blue and white trimmed Curry's lead down to four on two separate occasions, but the home team remained in control to come out with the 76-69 victory over the Scots.Â
Beyond The Box Score
- Bryce Smith tied his season-high assists tally with eight tonight.
