How It Happened
- Conor Creane got the Rams going early on with a three less than 30 seconds after the first whistle before his squad went on to earn a six-point gap (8-2) at 16:04. However, the Fighting Scots battled back, eventually taking the lead (12-10) thanks to a Sattazahn basket from downtown to give them their first go-ahead point. The Scots held their lead until 6:45 left in the first when a Suffolk three brought the score to 20-19 in favor of the Rams. The blue and white immediately regained their edge after Smith sunk one from behind the arc (24-22) before ending the half, 31-28.
- Coming back from the break, Smith tacked on three more points to Gordon's advantage with one from downtown (34-28). Not long after, the Scots earned their biggest margin of the game (46-39) at the 14:09 mark after a layup in the paint from Makiej. But the Rams were able to chip away, eventually going ahead by one point (49-48) before a Zach Quanico three knotted it up at 51-all with 9:47 remaining. However, the Rams were on a roll, securing a nine-point lead (60-51) with 4:30 on the clock after a nine-point run but the Fighting Scots soon retaliated with a pair of layups and a floor shattering Treyton Tebbs basket from behind the arc to make it a one basket game (58-60) with less than two minutes remaining, but it wasn't enough as the Rams were able to hold on to their advantage to take the 64-61 Conference win.Â
