Scots Dominate In Road Sweep

The Gordon College Volleyball team continued on the road as they headed down to Boston, where they would compete against Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Suffolk University RamsĀ as well asĀ the Fisher College Falcons in a trimatch. The Fighting Scots earned a perfect sweep to improve to 11 - 7 overall and 2 - 1 in league action.

Gordon v. Suffolk (3 - 0)
  • In the opening set, the Rams came out hot taking a 6-0 lead before it was Annie Zimmerman who was able to put the Fighting Scots on the board with a kill. The largest led for the Scots would be three points before they would take the first set. (1-0)
  • Gordon would begin the second frame with a 7-3 lead, but Suffolk would fight back tying again at 7, 8, 12Ā and 13Ā before the blue and white would extend their score to 25 - 20, overall putting the Scots up 2-0.Ā 
  • The last set went in similar fashion to the second as Gordon went up 12-3 quick before the Rams would come back within three point, but the Fighting Scots kept the lead with a score of 25 - 20.
Gordon v. Fisher (3 - 0)
  • Down 18 - 15, the blue and white clawed their way back into contention down the stretch to take the final four points en route to the 25 - 23 come from behind victory.
  • Gordon used a 6 - 0 run midway through the second frame to go on top, 16 - 7. However, Fisher did not back down, scoring eight straight to flip the script and take the 20 - 18 advantage. Similar to the first set, the Scots came together to regain the lead in the 25 - 23 win.
  • Ā Looking to finish off the Falcons in three, Gordon's Annie Murphy and Joey Keltner took control late, outscoring their counterparts 9 - 1 to secure the overall 3 - 0 sweep (25 - 21).

  • Gordon has now defeated Suffolk in nine straight meetings.Ā 
  • Teagan Brideweser had a career-high of six blocks in the Suffolk match.Ā 
  • Junior, Aba Asante contributed nine digs, which wasĀ another career-high during the Suffolk game.Ā 
  • Olivia Flemming tied her career-high of 19 assists against Fisher.Ā
