Scots Drop TriMatch In New Jersey

The Fighting Scots took a break in conference action as they traveled to Kean University for a trimatch against the host Cougars as well as the Messiah University Falcons in Union, New Jersey. Kean and Messiah defeated the Fighting Scots, 3 - 0 in both matchups.

Gordon v. Kean
  • In the first frame, Gordon kept the set close as it was tied 8 - 8, but the Cougars went on a seven point straight run to give them a comfortable lead and take set one, 10 - 25.
  • Kean took the first two points of the second, but the blue and white continued to fight as they would put pressure on Kean throughout the match only allowing a three point differential before the final four points (19 - 25).
  • In the final set, Kean remained dominate as they were able to use a few attack errors from the Scots to gain a 3 - 14 lead. The Fighting Scots strung together a few consecutive points to bring the score within five before the Cougars were able to finish off the game (17 - 25).
Gordon v. Messiah
  • The Falcons and Scots locked up at 7 - 7 before Messiah began to pull away en route to the 25 - 14 win.
  • Messiah took the early lead in the second and never looked back to go on top 2 - 0 after taking the second set, 25 - 13.
  • Despite four straight tallies late in the third, Messiah was able to cling onto the 25 - 17 win to sweep the blue and white.
Beyond The Box Score

  • Gordon College is back to conference play as they travel to the Nichols College Bison on Thursday, October 26 at 7 p.m.
