Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Scots Drop Season-Opener On The Road

Gordon College Men's Basketball traveled up to Waterville, Maine today to face-off against the Colby-Sawyer College (CSC) Chargers at the Colby College Tournament. After the 40 minute fight the Scots came up short, 68-79.

For the Scots, Bryce Smith lead the way with 21 points and 4 steals, while Alex Daniel contributed 12 points in his collegiate debut.

The Chargers were paced by Jaquan Mosley who dropped 24 points, and Sean Peterson added 14 points.

How It Happened
  • The Fighting Scots raced out to a 13-2 lead in large part due to the solid play of Isaac Jarvis and Treyton Tebbs. CSC closed the gap multiple times before tying it up at 22-all with 8:31 to go in the half. Gordon however, continued to hold the upper hand before the Chargers grabbed their first lead of the evening (30-29) with just over four minutes on the clock and took the 40-32 edge at the half.
  • In the second half, the blue and white trimmed the deficit to five after the rookie, Alex Daniel drained one form behind the arc (12:27). The Chargers were able to orchestrate an 8-0 run as they came away with the 68-79 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • For the second time in his career Bryce Smith hit the 20 point threshold in the season opener.
  • The Fighting Scots return to Waterville, Maine and will play against either Emerson College or Colby College to finish out their tournament at Colby on Saturday, November 11.
