Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Scots Blow Past Nor'easters, 82-68 In CCC Battle

Gordon College Men's Basketball returned to Kanas Court tonight for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) battle against the University of New England (UNE) Nor'easters where the Fighting Scots defeated their guests, 82-68.

Garrett Sattazahn guided the Scots to victory with 23 points in 23 minutes of action while Zachary Bennett chipped in 15 points and nine rebounds followed by Caleb Scott who contributed 14 and nine rebounds as well.

The visitors were led by Adrian Torres and Jayden Thornton who each added 14 points in the mix followed by Zach Boulay who chipped in 12.

How It Happened
  • The Scots jumped out to a seven-point advantage before the Nor'easters were able to find the hoop. Not long after, a Bennett three put the Scots ahead, 17-4 just over five minutes into play before extending their lead to double-digits (26-15) after a Rob Shelansky jumper sealed the more comfortable lead for his squad. In the remaining six minutes, the Nor'easters were able to shrink the gap after a nine-point rally to come within two points (24-26) with 3:40 on the clock before ending the half, 32-30 in favor of the Scots.
  • After the break, Gordon's leading scorer, Sattazahn, immediately grew their lead to seven after back to back buckets first from the paint before hitting one from downtown. A few minutes later, the Fighting Scots grabbed their biggest lead of the game after a 12-point rally (49-32). UNE attempted to cut the deficit, coming within eight at the 2:41 mark, but the Scots held tight to their lead before bringing down the hammer to secure the 82-68 CCC win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Zachary Bennett tied his previous career-high of 15 points and earned a career-high nine rebounds tonight.
  • The Fighting Scots are back in action when they venture to Boston this Saturday, February 11 where they square up against the Suffolk University Rams for a CCC matchup at 3 p.m.
