How It Happened
- Gordon's Wright got the Scots rolling as he put his squad on the board with the first goal of the game at the 10:18 mark to take the 1-0 initial advantage. However 1:32 later, the Wildcats evened it out at 1-1 before going ahead, 2-1 with 6:09 remaining in the first quarter. Despite a shot attempt from Noah Theis, neither team was able to add to their tally to head into the second frame, 1-2.Â
- Aidan Walsh immediately took control of the second quarter for the Fighting Scots as the freshman won the face off before Wright pounded the net with a shot just 54 seconds into the new frame, however the score remained the same until the clock struck 6:02 when JWU extended their lead to two before making it 4-1 with another goal just seven seconds later. With 25 ticks left before the end of the half, Wright took advantage of a man-up situation to cut their deficit to two heading into halftime, 2-4.Â
- After the break, JWU quickly tacked on another goal just over a minute after the whistle blew to regain a more comfortable edge (5-2) but it wasn't long before Wright retaliated with a goal of his own to chip away before John Flemmi made it a one-goal game at the 12:10 mark (4-5). After the squads ping-ponged shots, William Whittlesey fed Wright with 8:05 to go in the third to knot it up 5-5.
- The score remained at a stalemate heading into the final quarter and it wasn't until Gordon'a Arthur gave the Scots the one-goal edge with 12:12 remaining before the Wildcats fought back to tie it up at six-all with just over five minutes left in regulation. However, the Fighting Scots turned up the heat as they went on to score back-to-back-to-back goals, dominating the final four minutes of the game to seal the 9-6 win.Â
