Lions Take Two From Scots In Weekend Matchup

Back at it again this afternoon, Gordon College Baseball made the trip to Weymouth, Massachusetts for a 7-inning twin bill against the Eastern Nazarene Lions on Libby Field where ENC took game one, 4-2 before winning game two by a score of 8-1.

Game One
  • The Fighting Scots got on the board early after loading up the bases thanks to a pair of freebies by way of a hit by pitch and a single from CJ Demers with one down. Gordon's Dalton Cody earned a walk to plate the first run of the game before teammate Robert Dunkle took one for the team for another tally to give the the blue and white a 2-0 edge.
  • ENC answered back in the home half of the inning as Elvis Rojas led off the frame with a solo shot before the Lions tacked on one more run to knot up the score at 2-2.
  • In the second and third, Gordon's starting right-hander Andrew Marzetta sat the Lions down in order before the home team was able to string together a pair of hits to score a run and go on top, 3-2. Then, Marzetta once again went 1,2,3 in the fifth, but ENC was able to plate an insurance run in the home half of the sixth to double up the Scots, 4-2.
  • Trying to make the comeback, Gordon loaded the bases in their last at bats, but the Lions held strong to preserve the 4-2 victory over the blue and white.
Game Two
  • The Lions continued to roll in the second game, scoring a trio of runs in their first opportunity to take an early lead.
  • ENC put another on the scoreboard in the home half of the third to lead 4-0.
  • Then, with the Lions leading, 8-0 in the top of the seventh, Ryan McSally knocked in Jonathan McIntyre but that was the only run the blue and white was able to plate as ENC took the 8-1 win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Fighting Scots return to action on Tuesday, March 21 to square off against North Shore foe Salem State on the road at 3 p.m.
