Panthers Stifle Scots' Second Half Comeback, 9-8

Gordon College Men's Lacrosse welcomed the Panthers of Plymouth State University (PSU) to the Brigham Athletic Complex where the Fighting Scots were edged out by the visitors, 9-8.

Gordon's Marco Fernandez netted a pair of goals while dishing out an assist, John Flemmi and Noah Thies also tacked on two goals each, while Aidan Walsh booked one goal while also going 13 of 18 in face-offs. In 60 minutes of action, keeper Colin Liscomb made eight saves.

The visitors used nine different scorers in the win, with Jake Dolcimascolo leading the way with a pair of assists and a goal, while teammate Crosby Fay also had an assist along with his goal.

How It Happened
  • The Plymouth State Panthers drew first blood with a goal three minutes into the game. Gordon quickly matched their tally thanks to a shot from Walsh 12 seconds later (1-1). PSU netted five more in the frame, but the Fighting Scots finished off the quarter with a goal to close the gap to four (6-2).
  • In a quiet second quarter, each team recorded just one goal to bring the score to 7-3 at the half.
  • Gordon came out of the break hot, scoring two goals before the Panthers broke up the scoring threat (8-5) with 3:45 in the third. However, the blue and white did not slow down, firing in three more goals with the last being one at the horn from Fernandez.
  • The Panthers, however, regrouped and knocked in a goal in the final quarter which would ultimately be the game-winner as the visitors escaped Gordon's rally, 9-8.
