Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Hawks Fly Past Scots In Nail-Biter

In a mid-week matchup, Gordon College Men's Lacrosse hosted the University of Hartford Hawks at the Brigham Athletic Complex. Both sides needed all 60 minutes, as it came down to final seconds with Hartford going ahead late for the 9-8 win over the Fighting Scots.

For the Scots, Marco Fernandez found the back of the net three times as did teammate Jackson Wright, while Colin Liscomb had 22 saves.

Hartford's John Furino had four goals while Griffin Weller had three helpers and two goals.

How It Happened
  • The Hawks found the back of the net after winning the opening face-off to take the quick 1-0 lead. Hartford added to their tally a minute later to widen the gap to two goals before the Fighting Scots ended the half with a goal of their own to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
  • Gordon locked up the score, just five minutes into the second frame before Hartford came back firing for a pair of goals to lead 4-1 (6:36). Not to be outdone, the blue and white answered back in a big way in the final two minutes thanks to Fernandez who rattled in both goals for his squad to make it a tie ball game at the half.
  • Hartford and the Scots each booked a pair of goals each in the third to knot the score up once again, 6-6 heading into the final frame.
  • After Hartford drew first blood in the fourth, rookie Wright netted his third straight tally to lock it up at 7-all. Then, Gordon took their first lead of the evening with 2:31 left on the clock thanks to shot from Fernandez (8-7). However, Hartford came back immediately to tie it up before adding another to the stat sheet to come away with the narrow 9-8 win over the blue and white.
