Gordon College Men's Tennis invited the Roger Williams Hawks for their second Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match of the 2023 season where the Fighting Scots were narrowly bested by their guests, 4-5.
The Scots started off doubles action with a win as
John Marineau and
James Wellborn quickly overpowered their Hawk opponents in the No. 3 spot (8-2), however, Roger Williams went on to win the other pair of doubles matches to make the score 2-1 heading into singles play.
In singles action, the Hawks took the first wins on court No. 2 and No. 6 before Gordon's Carleton Reister beat his opponent in the No. 5 spot (6-3, 6-3) to give the Scots their first singles win. Meanwhile, in the No. 3 spot as
Joshua Noel fought for the Fighting Scots' second win after a close match (6-4, 3-6, 6-5) before
Ezekiel Hall finished off the evening for Gordon with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory, but it wasn't enough as the Scots took the eventual 4-5 loss.
The Fighting Scots are back in action on Sunday, April 2 when they travel to Milton, Massachusetts for another CCC match at 1 p.m.
