Late Rally Boosts Rams Over Scots

Gordon College Baseball continued Conference action this afternoon as they traveled in to Boston to face the Suffolk University Rams at the East Boston Memorial Park where the Fighting Scots battled back to come within one run before falling to their hosts, 16-6 after eight innings.

How It Happened
  • The Rams got out to a hot start, jumping to a 4-0 lead after a Suffolk grand slam over the right center fence  in the first. The score remained the same until the visitor's half of the third when Robert Dunkle forced a walk at the plate to bring home Shane Demers and get on the board, 1-4 before the Rams were able to get out of the inning. Suffolk was able to retaliate in their next at bats with another home run to tack on two more runs and bring the score to 6-1 before making it 7-1 heading into the fifth.
  • The Fighting Scots got their bats going in the fifth as CJ Demers sacrifice flied out to score his brother, S. Demers to chip away at the deficit moments before Dunkle launched a triple to right center to bring home another pair of runs (4-7). The. next batter up, Jonathan McIntyre lined one through the right side to send Dunkle home, bringing the Scots within two runs (5-7). S. Demers kept the Fighting Scots' rally going, punching a hard hit to short to stir up the Rams' defense to score McIntyre and make it a one-run game, 6-7.
  • However, the Rams went on to score one run in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings before adding six to their tally in the eighth to end it early, 16-6.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Fighting Scots are back in action on Saturday, April 15 when they invite the Wentworth Leopards for a CCC for a twin-bill starting at noon.
