How It Happened
- The Fighting Scots started off hot as Gordon's Arthur net the first goal of the game at the 10:55 mark to put the Scots on top, 1-0 but WNE soon retaliated with a goal of their own at 9:32 to knot it up. Just over three minutes later, Long whizzed one past the Golden Bears' keeper to regain the edge for his squad (2-1). However, with 2:05 remaining in the first, WNE was able to find the back of the net again to even it out at 2-2 before going ahead 4-2 in the final minutes of the quarter.
- In the second, WNE brought their momentum from the first quarter, going on an eight-goal run before Long closed out the second with another tally to make it 12-3.
- The Golden Bears did not let up offensively, eventually grabbing a 21-point lead before Long net the final goal of the game with 2:28 remaining in regulation but it wasn't enough as the Scots took the eventual 4-24 loss.
