Nor'easters Turn Away Scots In CCC Matchup

Gordon College Men's Lacrosse traveled up to Biddeford, Maine this evening for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest against the University of New England Nor'easters where the Nor'easters took the 13-6 win over the Fighting Scots. 

For the Scots, Ryan Stephen Long netted two goals, John Flemmi had one goal and one assist, while Jackson Right chipped in two helpers. William Whittlesey picked up three ground balls while also causing three turnovers and Colin Liscomb booked 21 saves in net.

UNE's Sam McGregor recorded five goals while Ryan Hazard tacked on two goals.

How It Happened
  • Keeper Liscomb kept UNE off the board with four saves early in the first quarter before the Nor'easters were able to knock one through to take a 1-0 lead after the first quarter.
  • The Scots' Thies ripped one past the UNE keeper for his squad's first goal of the afternoon to cut UNE's lead in half (2-1) at 9:45 in the second. 
  • With a 4-1 edge at halftime, UNE came out of the break hot, scoring three straight goals to lead 7-1 midway through the third. The Scots continued to battle, scoring twice more in the frame to make it 8-3 heading into the fourth.
  • Gordon netted two goals within two minute span in the fourth, but the Nor'easters were able to hold on to take the 13-6 win.

  • Colin Liscomb now has three games with 20 or more saves.
  • Next up for the Fighting Scots is a matchup vs. the Nichols College Bison on Saturday, April 22 at 4 p.m. as they celebrate senior day.
