No. 3 Gordon College Men's Tennis began post season play this afternoon as the Scots hosted the No. 6 seeded Salve Regina Seahawks in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Quarterfinal round. The Fighting Scots continued to stay hot on the courts, blanking their opponents, 5-0 to head to the semifinals.
The Scots immediately gained the 3-0 advantage after sweeping on all three courts in doubles play.
Ezekiel Hall and
Joshua Noel got Gordon rolling on court No. 1 with a quick 8-0 victory before
James Wellborn and
Lucas Barnes' opponents met the same fate over on court No. 3 (8-0). Wrapping up doubles action was
Carleton Riester and
Jeffrey Bodner in the No. 2 slot, who took the 8-6 win.
The Fighting Scots were eager to send the Seahawks home early as Barnes brought his squad one point away from the Semifinal round with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 5 spot. Moments later, Bodner clinched the 5-0 victory for Gordon on court No. 2 (6-2, 6-2), sending the Scots one match closer to the Championship round.
The Scots will travel to Bristol, Rhode Island for the CCC Semifinals where they will face the No. 2 Hawks of Roger Williams at 4 p.m.
