Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Bison Escape Scots On Senior Day

Gordon College Women's Lacrosse invited the Nichols College Bison to the Brigham Athletic Complex this afternoon for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match-up in celebration of their lone senior Sarah McCabe. After battling for four quarters, the Fighting Scots narrowly fell to the Bison, 10-14.

The Scots were paced by Kaitlyn Mini who booked four goals while dishing out one helper, meanwhile, Alexis LaPia and Caroline Piorkowski added a pair of goals in the mix.

Mackenzie Doran led Nichols with four goals followed by Hadley Houghton and Elizabeth Luster who chipped in three goals each.

How It Happened
  • LaPia got the Scots rolling right off the bat as the junior found the back of the net just over five minutes after the first whistle blew to give Gordon the initial 1-0 edge. However, exactly three minutes later, the Bison tied it up before going on a four goal rally within a minute and a half span to take the 4-1 advantage. With 3:26 remaining, Mini net her first goal of the afternoon which was soon followed up by a tally from Mikayla Lecci to bring the Scots within one (3-4) before the Bison were able to stretch their edge with a goal in the last 17 seconds of the frame (5-3).
  • Nichols opened up the second with a goal less than a minute into the frame before the Fighting Scots net back to back goals in under a minute time span to make it a one-goal game once again (5-6) but the Bison used the rest of the half to pull away, heading into the third, 9-5.
  • The Bison continued their momentum into the second half, scoring four before Gordon's Piorkowski catalyzed a Scot scoring spree with 3:38 left on the clock, topped off by a pair of Mini goals (9-13).
  • In the fourth, the Fighting Scots held their guests to just one goal while scoring one of their own, but it wasn't enough as they took the 10-14 loss.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Veteran Sarah McCabe earned a career-high four caused turnovers in today's contest.
