Scots Comeback To Seal 3-1 Victory Over Mt. St. Mary

On day one of the Gordon College Invitational, Gordon College Volleyball squared off against the Mt. St. Mary Knights on Kanas Court where the visitors took an elongated first set, 30-28, but the Fighting Scots buckled down to take the next three and win 3-1.

How It Happened
  • In the first set, both sides battled back and forth, each attempting to edge ahead but neither side was able to take full control. Down, 23-18, the blue and white came right back to lock it up at 23-all thanks to solid serving from Kate Howe. However, despite going to extra points, the visitors snuck out on top, 30-28.
  • The Scots raced out to a commanding 14-3 advantage in the second frame before tying it up at 1-1 thanks to a 25-13 win.
  • Mt. St. Mary was out front (12-9) in the third, but the blue and white's Rachel Alleva led the way behind the service line to put her squad back out in front, 16-13. From there the home team stayed in the driver's seat to secure the 10 point win (25-15).
  • Once again, the Fighting Scots took control early, leading by as many as eight before widening the gap down the stretch en route to a 25-12 set four win and overall 3-1 win to open the weekend.
