Gordon College Volleyball welcomed Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Roger Williams University to Kanas Court for their CCC Opener where the Fighting Scots opened up CCC play in the win column with the 3 - 0 victory over the Hawks.

How It Happened

• Locked up at 9 - 9, RWU went on a 6 - 0 run to widen the gap to 15 - 9. However, the home team went on a run of their own to close the gap to three points. With RWU one point away from the win, Kate Howe delivered a kill, followed by a Nikki Batson ace to knot the score up at 24 - all. Howe knuckled in an ace before Annie Zimmerman finished the Hawks off with a kill to take the 27 - 25 win.
• An Evey Hansen and Zimmerman back-to-back kills put the blue and white on top 12 - 4 in the second and they didn't let up, as they cruised to a 2 - 0 advantage after coming away with the 25 - 17 victory.
• In the third frame, the Hawks held the slight upper hand until the home team rattled home five straight points to go on top 14 - 12. Despite, RWU climbing back within one point late, the Fighting Scots secured the 25 - 20 win and 3 - 0 CCC sweep of the Hawks.

• Gordon has now defeated the Roger Williams Hawks in four straight meetings.
• Annie Zimmerman booked a career-high five aces.
• Joey Keltner matched her season-high in digs with 13.
• The Fighting Scots return to Kanas Court on Wednesday, September 27 to host the Eastern Nazarene Lions at 7 p.m.
