Kate Howe Reaches 2K Milestone In Five-Set Loss To ENC

Gordon College Volleyball hosted the Eastern Nazarene Lions this evening to Kanas Court for their final home contest of September where the Lions managed to spoil the Fighting Scots' thrilling comeback and win the five set battle.

How It Happened
  • ENC jumped out to an 8 - 3 advantage in the first frame and continued to hold the upper hand throughout much of the frame. The Fighting Scots closed the gap late to within four, but the Lions came away with the 25 - 20 win.
  • Senior Kate Howe dished out her 2,000 career assist to Joey Keltner early in the second set to come within one (6 - 5). Gordon locked it up at 6 - 6, but ENC was able to pull away and go on top, 2 - 0, thanks to a 25 - 18 victory.
  • In the third, the blue and white took command early and eventually held a 17 - 12 advantage. However, looking to end it in three set, the Lions came back to make it a one-point game twice before the home team closed it out with the final three points (25 - 21).
  • The Fighting Scots used a seven-point run midway through the fourth frame to go on top, 21 - 11 and never looked back, holding the Lions to just 13 points in a 25 - 13 win.
  • With the score 6 - 5 in favor of ENC, the Lions orchestrated a four-point run to double up the blue and white 10 - 5 before taking the fifth and final set by a score of 15 - 9 and overall 3 - 2 victory.
