Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Scots Nearly Knock Off Top-Ranked Gulls In Five-Set Battle

Gordon College Volleyball continued their three-game home-stand as the Fighting Scots hosted Conference of New England (CNE) opponent Endicott College on Kanas Court. In five-sets, the Gulls came from behind to remain undefeated in CNE play with the 3-2 win.

How It Happened
  • A Joey Keltner kill gave Gordon a five-point lead (16-11), before the Gulls answered back to trail by one. The Scots continued to hold the upper hand until the scoreboard read 23-23. Maria Clarabuch slammed down a kill (24-23), but the Gulls closed it out with three straight points to go on top, 1-0.
  • The Scots and Gulls traded short runs in the second frame and seven ties later resulted in 24-24. Senior Annie Murphy put Gordon in the driver's seat with the 25th point before Clarabuch sealed the win (26-24).
  • With Endicott up, 13-12, Gordon flipped the script as the blue and white stormed out to a 6-0 run to take the 18-13 lead. The Scots did not let up, taking the third 25-18.
  • Similar to the first set, more points were needed to decide the victor. Endicott's late run gave them the 25-24 edge before Gordon tied it up again at 25 and then 26. However, the Gulls secured the final two points to force a fifth set.
  • Endicott rolled out to a 6-1 advantage before claiming the 15-7 win (3-2).
Beyond The Box Score
  • Gordon is the only CNE team to take Endicott to five sets this season.
  • The Scots will step back on the court on Saturday, November 9 to host the Western New England Golden Bears at 1 p.m. as they celebrate Senior Day.
