The Gordon College Baseball team kicked off their season today on the road as they traveled to North Shore rival, Salem State, before their spring break trip later this week. The Fighting Scots scored three runs in their final at bat, but the Vikings defeated the blue and white 7-4. 

How It Happened

• The Vikings scored first in the home half of the first as they plated two runs, before they added four in the third to lead 6-0 after three innings of action.
• In the top of the fourth, CJ Demers led off the inning with the double to straight away center. Next batter up, Andrew Hartman, traded places with Demers to bring home the Scots first run (6-1). 
• Rookie right-hander, Jack Birtwell, sat the Vikings down in order in the bottom of the fifth in his first collegiate appearance on the ruber.
• The Fighting Scots held the Vikings to just one more run in the final five innings of action.
• Gordon loaded up the bases in the top of the ninth and tacked on three more runs, but the home team kept the advantage for the 7-4 win.

• Southpaw rookie Michael Pelletier recorded his first strikeout of his collegiate career in the bottom of the third. 
• The blue and white head to Florida for their spring break trip and start it off on Friday, March 1 for a double header versus Moravian University Greyhounds at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
