Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Scots Triumph Over Vikings, 15-5

Traveling to North Shore rival Salem State, this evening Gordon College Women's Lacrosse squared off against the Vikings of Salem State University at Alumni Field. The Fighting Scots got back on track with a dominate 15-5 win over the Vikings. 

For the Scots, Kaitlyn Mini led the way with five goals and two assists, Caroline Piorkowski recorded three goals and as many assists, while Abbie Zorrilla added three goals and one assist. Jordan Miller caused seven turnovers, while scooping up six ground balls and keeper, Kayla Davidson booked 19 saves. 

Salem State's Kaia Hollingsworth and Kenzie Currey each had two goals. 

How It Happened
  • With the score knotted up at 1-1, the Fighting Scots went on a 6-0 run to lead 7-1 after one quarter of play. 
  • The second quarter was quiet for both sides, as each team recorded one goal a piece to bring the score to 8-2 at halftime.
  • Coming out of the break, Zorrilla fired in two quick goals to widen the gap to 10-2 with 12:47 to go in the frame. The Vikings tried to get in rhythm, but the blue and white continued to stretch their lead, holding the 14-5 advantage going into the final quarter. 
  • Rookie, Sydney Roof, found the back of the net with 1:29 left on the goal giving Gordon the 10-goal victory. 
Beyond The Box Score
  • Abbie Zorrilla netted a season-high of three goals. 
  • Sydney Roof scored her first collegiate goal of the season. 
  • Goalkeeper, Kayla Davidson, had a career-high of 19 saves. 
  • Gordon returns to action on Friday, March 15 as they travel to Henniker, N.H. to battle the Pilgrims of New England College at 4 p.m.
