Demers Records 100th Career Hit In Loss To Anchormen

The Gordon College Baseball team took to the road as they traveled to Providence, Rhode Island to face the Anchormen of Rhode Island College (RIC), where the Fighting Scots fell to their hosts, 8-4.

How It Happened
  • The blue and white struck first as Joey Kazlauskas singled to left field bringing in CJ Demers in the top of the first, 1-0. 
  • In the bottom of the third inning, the Anchormen took the lead 2-1, and then widen the gap to 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth. However, Gordon chipped away cutting the deficit in half as Alex Razzaboni sent a sacrifice fly ball out to center field, 4-2, in the top of the fifth inning.
  • Both teams were held scoreless in the next two inning, before RIC extended their lead (7-2) in the home half of the seventh, but in the top of the eighth, the Fighting Scots answered back as they strung together two runs (7-4). 
  • RIC scored one more insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning to come away with the 8-4 win.

  • CJ Demers started the game by notching is 100th career hit down the left field line. 
  • Robert Dunkle registered his second three-hit game of the season today.
  • The Fighting Scots are back at home as they host the Salem State Vikings on Thursday, March 21 at 3 p.m.
