Gordon College Baseball welcomed the Salem State University Vikings to J. Tec White Field on a cold New England afternoon today where the Vikings secured the season series sweep with an 8-4 win.

How It Happened

• Opening up play, the visitors knocked in one run, before the Fighting Scots' CJ Demers sent a solo shot over the left field fence to even up the score in the first inning. 
• With runners on the corners, the Vikings used back-to-back hits to plate three runs, before tacking on one more in the frame to go on top 5-1. The Fighting Scots' Robert Dunkle led off the bottom of the inning with a double and quickly came around to score after another double off the bat of AJ Figueroa. Later in the frame, Kendrick Iverson hit a single to center field to score his teammate Figueroa to cut the lead to 5-3. 
• The Scots' lineup of pitchers contained the Vikings for the next five innings, only allowing four hits during that time to keep it a 2-run ball game.
• In the eighth inning, Salem crossed the plate three more times to widen the gap to 8-3. Gordon came back in the bottom of the inning with one run, but the Vikings held on for the eventual victory. 

Beyond The Box Score

• Rookie Kendrick Iverson booked his first career hit as a Fighting Scot.
• The Fighting Scots step on their home dirt once again tomorrow, March 22 for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) seven-inning doubleheader against Wentworth who will act as the home team starting at 12 p.m.
