Falcons Halt Scots In Non-Conference Action

The Gordon College Fighting Scots Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Fitchburg State, as they faced-off against the Falcons in a Wednesday night battle, where the home team came out on top 17-9.

For the Fighting Scots, Caroline Piorkowski led the way with three goals, as teammate Kaitlyn Mini booked a duo of goals and three ground balls. Jordan Miller and Brooke Roberti both picked up four ground balls for the blue and white.

Nicole Orlowski notched four goals and two assists, while Delaney Ponder tacked on three goals and an assist for the Falcons.

How It Happened
  • Gordon opened up the scoring as they found the back of the net at the 12 minute mark, thanks to a shot by Lilia Bailey. The blue and white quickly looked to score again as Jocelyn Noyes tally her first goal of the night (2-0). Not to be outdone, the home team knocked in five shots of their own in the opening half, but Rachel Mincone cut the deficit to two as the squads went into the second quarter (5-3).
  • Fitchburg recorded the next four goals, before the Fighting Scots answered right back with a trio of goals to go into the break down by three (9-6).
  • Opening up the third period, the Falcons scored five goals. Not going down without a fight, the Scots answered back with three goals of their own, but the home team came out with the eventual win.
