Golden Bears Top Scots On Senior Day

The Gordon College Men's Lacrosse team welcomed the Western New England Golden Bears as they celebrated their seven seniors in their final home Saturday regular season match-up, where the visiting team took the victory 17-8.

For the Fighting Scots, Marco Fernandez booked four goals and one assist, while Nick Buccella, John Flemmi, Seamus Gordon, and Jackson Wright each tacked on one goal a piece. Defensively, Ethan Ritchie caused three turnovers and gathered four ground balls.

WNE was paced by Nicholas Campagnone as he registered four goals and three assists, followed by Jack Houlden who added three goals for the Golden Bears, and Chris Catuosco had a game-high of nine ground balls.

How It Happened
  • The Golden Bears came out hot scoring the first goal within two minutes of play, but the Fighting Scots answered right back as Buccella found the back of the net evening out the field. WNE scored five goals before Fernandez looked to narrow the gap with a goal of his own before going into the second period, 6-2. The Golden Bears stretched their advantage at the break after an eight-goal second quarter (14-2).
  • Coming out of the half, Gordon scored the only goals for both squads as they knocked in three shots in the third period cutting the deficit to 14-5.
  • As the blue and white began putting pressure on the visiting team, the two went back and forth in scoring the final six goals of the game, but the Golden Bears took the victory.
