Gordon College Men's Lacrosse traveled into Boston this afternoon for a Commonwealth Coast Confernce (CCC) battle against the Wentworth Institute Leopards on Sweeney Field. In a hard fought match-up, the Leopards used a strong third quarter to secure the comeback 11-8 win.
For the Fighting Scots,
John Flemmi and
Jackson Wright each had a hat trick, while
Marco Fernandez added two goals. In net,
Colin Liscomb booked 20 saves and
Aidan Walsh had seven ground balls.
Wentworth'sÂ
Brendan Kroll had three goals and two assists, while
Kobi Buffa had two goals and one assist.
How It Happened
- Less than 60 seconds after the opening face-off Flemmi ripped a shot past the Leopard keeper to put Gordon on top, 1-0. Six minutes later, Wentworth rattled off two straight goals (2-1), but Gordon quickly answered back less than a minute later to knot it up at 2-2 (7:59). Both squads continued to go shot for shot as each team recorded their third goal within a minute span, bringing the scoreboard to 3-3 after the first quarter.
- Gordon scored first in the second, followed by two straight goals by the Leopards (5-4). Gordon came back with vengeance, finding the back of the net three times to regain the upper hand, 7-5 at halftime.
- After four unanswered goals in the third from the home team, the Leopards flip the script to go on top 9-7 heading into the fourth.
- Flemmi tacked on one more goal in the fourth, but Wentworth registered two more to take the win.Â

- John Flemmi and Jackson Wright both earned their third hat trick of the year.
- Colin Liscomb had his second game with 20 saves this season.Â
- The Fighting Scots return to action on Saturday, April 20 for another CCC contest as they venture to Milton, Mass. to take on the Curry College Colonels at 2 p.m.
