The Gordon College Baseball team welcomed the Panthers of Plymouth State University (PSU) to J.Tec White Field for a non-conference game, where the visitors' big second inning lifted them to a 16-10 win over the Fighting Scots.

How It Happened

• Both squads went scoreless in the first inning, before the visiting team took the 7-0 lead in the top of the second. Gordon answered right back scoring three runs of their own, in part thanks to a deep shot by Evan Clark over the left field fence scoring two of the three runs in the frame (7-3). 
• The Panthers were able to stretch the scoreboard to 12-3 before the blue and white tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth (12-4).
• In the home half of the seventh, the Scots shrunk the gap as they put a four-spot up on the board to make it a 12-8 ball game.
• However, the visitors answered right back as they crossed the plate four times in the top of the eighth to regain a comfortable lead. 
• Gordon reached the 10-run threshold in the bottom of the eighth with a pair of solo shots from CJ Demers and Joey Kazlauskas, bringing the score to 16-10 which turned out to be the final tally.

Beyond The Box Score

• Transfer Evan Clark belted his first home run as a Fighting Scot.
• Andrew Hartman has now reached base safely in seven straight games.
• With his home run today, CJ Demers now has 15 career homers.
• The Fighting Scots continue at their home field as they take on the Bulldogs of Dean College for a twin bill on Thursday, April 18 starting at 1 p.m.
