Scots Outlast Rainy Conditions In Split With Bulldogs

Gordon College Baseball welcomed the Dean College Bulldogs today to J Tec. White Field for two seven inning games. The visitors took game one by a score of 15-2 before the Fighting Scots came back in game two with a 10-5 victory.

Game One
  • Dean put a run across in the top of the first before increasingly widening the gap with a three-run second and another in the third to take a 5-0 advantage after three innings of play.
  • After Gordon's pitching staff held the Bulldogs scoreless in the fourth and fifth, the blue and white used three hits to score a pair of runs to bring the score to 5-2.
  • In the top of the sixth, Dean regained a comfortable lead, scoring four runs, making it 9-2 to secure the win.
Game Two
  • The Bulldogs were able to score a run in the first, but the home team answered back in a huge way as the blue and white scored eight runs in the home half of the third (8-1). In the third inning alone, Dalton Cody, Gianni Mercurio, and CJ Demers all sent a shot out of the park igniting the high-scoring inning.
  • Gordon tacked on two more in the fourth to stretch the lead to 10-1 before the Bulldogs attempted a comeback in the fifth that fell short as the Fighting Scots earned the 10-5 win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Dalton Cody tied his career-high of four RBIs in game two.
  • Gianni Mercurio hit his first home run of the season in game two.
  • The Fighting Scots jump into league action this weekend on the road as they travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on the Golden Bears of Western New England at 12 p.m.
