Scots Snatch 13-6 Win Over Leopards

The Gordon College Women's Lacrosse team headed into Boston for a Commonwealth Coast Confernce (CCC) contest under the lights on Sweeney Field against the Wentworth Institute Leopards. The Fighting Scots bested their counterparts, 13-6, as they walked away with the victory. 

To lead all scorers on the evening was Gordon's Kaitlyn Mini as she tallied six goals. While Caroline Piorkowski added three goals and two assists, and Abbie Zorrilla put up two goals of her own. 

Wentworth's Kiki Dempsey and Maggie McCann both produced two goals for the Leopards, while teammate Jenny Montville collected eight ground balls. 

How It Happened
  • The Leopards struck first in the opening quarter, but the Fighting Scots rocketed off four tallies to finish the frame ahead, 4-1.
  • Both sides found the back of the net twice in the second, as Gordon maintained their three-goal cushion at the break (5-2).
  • Gordon continued to stay hot into the third period as Mini rattled off two goals, before the Leopards answered back with two of their own. However, Gordon tacked on the final goal of the period, 8-4. 
  • In the final period of play, the Fighting Scots notched five goals in a five minute window to widen the lead to eight goals in favor of the blue and white. Wentworth added one more goal before regulation was over, and the Fighting Scots came out with the 13-6 victory. 
Beyond The Box Score
  • Caroline Piorkowski picked up a career-high of six ground balls.
  • Goalkeeper, Kayla Davidson recorded her highest save percentage in conference play after tonight's outing.  
  • The Fighting Scots return to action on Saturday, April 20 for another CCC contest as they travel to Milton, Mass. to take on the Curry College Colonels at 11 a.m.
