Opening up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action this evening, Gordon College Men's Tennis welcomed the Suffolk University Rams to the Bass River Tennis Club where the Fighting Scots defeated the visitors, 8-1
No. 1 doubles partners
Ezekiel Hall and
Jeffrey Bodner took care of their counterparts, 8-3, followed by another quick victory thanks to
Carleton Riester and
James Wellborn (8-1) in the No. 3 slot. Making it a clean sweep in doubles were
Joshua Noel and
Larson Benthem who bested Suffolk's No. 2 pairing by a score of 8-6 to hold the 3-0 advantage heading into singles.
Bodner opened up singles action with a clean 6-0, 6-0 win on the No. 2 court, just before rookie Benthem sealed the deal for the blue and white with a 6-1, 6-3 victory in No. 5 action.Â
Sam Miller, Riester, and Hall each picked up wins for the home team despite the match already being clinched.Â
Weather permitting, the Scots are scheduled to play Curry College at home tomorrow, April 6 at 11 a.m.
