The Gordon College Men's Lacrosse team traveled down to Bristol, Rhode Island as they faced the Roger Williams University Hawks where the home team defeated the Fighting Scots, 19-9.
For the Fighting Scots,
John Flemmi scored three goals, followed by
Marco Fernandez who tallied two goals and two assists. While teammate
Aidan Walsh booked one goal, along with six ground balls and won 19 of 31 face-offs.Â
The Hawks were lead by
Riley Spellman and
Ryan Vendetti both notched four goals, followed by a quad of players who each scored a pair of goals of their own.Â
How It Happened
- Gordon's Fernandez tallied the first two goals of the game as the Fighting Scots went up 2-0, but the Hawks answered right back scoring eight straight goals to end the first half (8-2).Â
- To start the second period, Jackson Wright tacked on a goal for the blue and white, cutting the deficit to five goals (8-3), but the home team converted three shots going into the break (11-3).Â
- Coming out of the half, Flemmi found the back of the net giving the Scots their fourth goal on the day (12-4), as the blue and white attempted to chip away down the stretch.
- In the last frame, both squads scored a trio of goals, as the Hawks maintained their lead to secure the victory.
Beyond The Box Score
- Aidan Walsh had a season-high of 19 face-off wins, while registering his first goal of the season.
- John Flemmi booked his third game of the year with three or more goals.
- The Fighting Scots are next schedule to play at the Brigham Athletics Complex as they welcome the Bears of Western New England on Saturday, April 13 at 3 p.m. and will also honor the seniors on the day.Â
