Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Montano's Hat Trick Lights Up Quad As Scots Double Up Rams, 4-2

The Gordon College Men's Soccer team hosted the Framingham State University Rams for their first contest on the historic Quad this afternoon. In a back and forth game, the Fighting Scots came out on top behind the golden foot of rookie Montano to earn the 4-2 victory.

How It Happened

  • The Scots got on the board first as rookie Gilbert Daru chased down a ball in the corner of the goal, finding teammate Montano who buried a rocket into the far side of the netting.
  • Not to be out the Rams countered, six minutes later to knot up the scoreboard at 1-1.
  • Despite the blue and white holding the upper hand in corners and offensive pressure, the Rams were able to escape and keep the score locked up at halftime.
  • Less than five minutes into the second half the Rams ripped a shot past the home keeper to gain the lead for the first time on the afternoon.
  • In the 61st minute, Daru led a racing Cortez Cardone down the left side before Cardone won the 1v1 match up against the Rams' keeper to tie up the score once again 2–2.
  • Seventeen minutes later, Cole Levis set up Montano perfectly just outside of the box as the rookie ripped in a powerful shot into the back of the net to give the blue and white the 3-2 edge.
  • Capping off the offensive explosion, Montano scored once again with just over three minutes remaining in regulation to widen the gap to 4-2 to claim the win.
